Investing is becoming easier and easier as time goes on. More investing apps like Webull are being brought to market, making it possible to open an account, transfer funds and begin investing in less than 10 minutes!
We have discussed investing multiple times on this blog, but this is the first time we are recommending a free stock trading platform. You heard that right. Free!
I use Vanguard for my main investment, and I use the Robinhood app for my play money. The Robinhood app is limited, so I was on the search for a better app with better analytics for a beginner investor.
Webull is a modern investing app that aims to make things even easier for consumers to invest in the stock market. With all the options available today, you might be asking what sets it apart from its competition, why would you choose Webull over another app and what others are saying about the Webull investing app. We’ve created this detailed Webull Investing App review to answer these common questions and show you what makes them different, or perhaps indifferent…
To start, you want to hear about the app from the CEO himself. I have had communications with him and I must say, everything described has been accurate so far. I personally put $1000 of my own money to try out the platform.

- Social Investing Community
- Extended Investing Hours
- Margin Trading
- Additional and advanced trading tools
- Access to international markets and cryptocurrency quotes
With the above listed competitive advantages that set Webull apart from others, It’s safe to say that Webull caters to investors of all level with their vast tools and resources.
Here is a 30 seconds video of webull featured on CNBC for a short break.

If you are ready to start investing, use our webull link to get 2 free stocks. For a limited time through my link, you can get 2 free stocks (one for successfully opening Webull account valued from $3-500; and another for depositing $100 or more valued from $4-1000).
Social Investing Community
There is no doubt that social media has changed the way we interact with one another on various topics. While social media started out as a way to keep in touch with friends and family, it’s emerged to be a form of communication on certain topics, in this case, the stock market.
Webull has a community page that allows you to post your comments and ideas to the Webull community on certain topics. You can see the posts of other members and thus get an idea of market trends, market sentiment and build upon your own ideas.
The platform is similar to a social media feed like Facebook or Twitter, where you can see recent comments. You can search top news about the markets, news, and updates about your investment watchlist, and even see a 24/7 timeframe of current news updates and topics.
You can also participate in “paper trading” which is a simulated stock market trading platform. Each person starts off with $10,000 competing against other Webull members in the stock simulator. The competitions have a set of terms and conditions allowing you to be put in a drawing to win prizes like Amazon gift cards for meeting the competition standards. This is also a great way to learn the stock market and practice different strategies with fake money before you invest with your own money.
Here is an example of some chatting going on about Netflix when I was trying to invest in the stock. While the chat might not make you change your investment decision, it sometimes helps to know what is the weakness in the product and what real people are concerned about.
Extended Trading Hours
Traditionally, extended trading hours were only available to wealthy individuals with large amounts of cash to invest. Webull is one of the few companies that now offer this ability to trade after regular market hours to everyday investors, regardless of available cash to invest.
Regular trading hours are from 9:30AM to 4:00PM EST. With Webull’s extended trading hours, you have the ability to invest from 4:00 AM until market open, and from 4:00 PM at market close until 8:00 pm that day.
Why is this beneficial? I’m willing to bet that most of you reading this are probably at work from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Take the differences in time zones into account and you may be sleeping during the US stock market regular hours. With extended trading hours, you can still make trades on the market even if you’re busy during the regular hours.
How does this affect the stock price when the market reopens after extended hours? If a stock price changes by $1 in the extended trading hours, the next market open price will also be affected accordingly by $1.
Margin Trading
Margin trading gives you the ability to borrow money from a broker in order to purchase larger amounts of stock. Margin trading is risky and should only be used with proper experience and expert help if no prior experience. By borrowing money at a 4% (for example) interest rate, and your investment gets an 8% return, you can pay back the borrowed cash and keep the returns on the total investment
Margin rates will be determined on your investible assets and are on a tiered level so your rate will decrease as your investible assets with Webull increase. It has nothing to do with the asset but determined based on your borrowed funds.
Check out the interview about the indicators available on webull platform, all with zero commission.
I even tried to use the hollow candle for example. Read about it from this site about stock charts.
Advanced Trading Tools
More advanced traders with trading and investment experience, but lack the larger amounts of cash to invest, formerly also didn’t have access to professional trading tools. Again, Webull aims at providing these professional trading tools to investors regardless of their account balance. Trading tools include access to technical indicators, real-time market news, and even the ability to sell short.
Technical Indicators
Technical indicators are key indicators taken from the graphical pattern of a stock. These technical indicators track certain patterns within the market and allow you to be notified of these patterns to help you decide whether a purchase opportunity becomes available based on the indicators.
Other key indicators including price averages, strength indicators, historical data such as EPS (Earnings Per Share), and even financial calendars (marking important events) related to the stock market.
Here is me playing around with some candles and moving averages. I am not a day trader, but it seems like Netflix is on the downward trend looking at the lower lows.
For a limited time through my Webull link, you can get 2 free stocks (one for successfully opening Webull account valued from $3-500; and another for depositing $100 or more valued from $4-1000).
Real-Time Market News
Having access to real-time market news is a valuable tool for those who base their trade decisions on technical indicators. Combine the real-time market news with your buy or sell indicators from technical analysis, and you’ve got a powerful platform for trading like the pros.
Short Selling
Webull offer short selling. Short selling is simply betting against the market. Rather than making a decision to buy a stock, you predict that its value is going to decrease so you wish to sell and reap the rewards from selling the stock. This is called short selling, and like other benefits discussed, is traditionally only available to larger trading accounts.
Access To Multiple International Markets
Trading stocks in international markets is a great way to diversify your portfolio. Webull allows you to see stock quotes of the following international stock markets:
- United States Stock Market (quotes and trading)
- United Kingdom Stock Market (quotes only)
- Germany Stock Market (quotes only)
- Foreign Exchange (AKA Forex or Global) Currency Market (quotes only)
- Cryptocurrency Market (quotes only)
It may be in the near future that you are able to trade all the different asset classes on Webull, but access to the quoting information is a major plus to help you make wise trading decisions.
Potential Cons For Using Webull To Invest
Sure the above features sound great, but perhaps only to a select market wanting a hands-on investment approach. With that said, there are a few things that may make the platform the perfect investment app that currently isn’t offered on Webull. They are:
- Ability to trade cryptocurrency: Cryptocurrency is no doubt a growing market and many are wanting access to both stocks and cryptocurrency in one portfolio. This aids in not having to bounce between platforms to view your investments and provides added convenience for the investor.
- Ability to purchase fractional shares: A growing trend that seems to be more popular as time moves forward is the ability to purchase fractional shares of stock. You might have noticed that popular stock companies like Amazon cost upwards of $1,000+ per share. That means in order to own Amazon stock, you have to invest at least enough to purchase a whole share at its current price. Fractional shares allow you to purchase portions of a share of stock, making it easier for investors with less money to own popular shares of companies like Amazon. This currently is not an option when you invest with Webull, although would be a fantastic addition to the platform.
When all is said and done, it’s easy to nit-pick and name everything a platform doesn’t have. Webull does provide a great platform of tools and resources for investors who wish to do more technical trading.
Who Is Webull For?
With access to more technical stock trading information, Webull naturally caters to young people at every level of trading experience. This is an easy to use app for beginners and those who have at least some investing experience. You may be looking to take your investments to the next level from a basic investment platform, or you might be an expert trader already and want access to expert tools without the high commissions.
Being able to have a margin account, short sell stocks, access to technical indicators and real-time stock news updates are generally tools used only by those who want more of a hands-on approach to investing their money. If this sounds like you then Webull is a great starting point and will save you a lot of money from the commission-free trades alone.

After paying off close to $300,000 in student loan debt in less than 6 months into my real job, I started on a mission to help others achieve the same. There is no magic to this than to strap up and get it done. Some of the ways we achieved this include side hustle, budgeting, great negotiation skills, and geographical arbitrage.

Being frugal came easily to me based on my background. However, the concept of building wealth did not solidify in my mind until when I finished medical school. I wish I knew what I know now when I was 14. Still, I don’t know enough and I am constantly learning to improve my knowledge.

It’s pretty nice that they give the two free stocks for signing up and depositing the $100.
You think they’ll be competitive with the likes of Robinhood?

Yup. it is pretty cool. The charts and analytics make it more fun. I am giving it a try with 1 Know to see all the features. I think it will compete well.
